Dr Motifs is a bioinformatics project launched by the GenOuest bioinformatics platform (Rennes, France) in March 2010. This project, led by Olivier Collin, is funded by IBiSA, and is conducted by Anthony Bretaudeau who is a developer on this platform.

Dr Motifs stands for “Découverte et Recherche de Motifs” in French. If you don’t speak French, this means “Patterns discovery and matching” in English.

The aim of this project is to provide a complete platform for the study of motifs in biological data like nucleic or proteic sequences.

A more complete description of the project and its goal is available here.

In the case where studies made with these tools lead to a publication, we ask you to cite or thanks the GenOuest bioinformatics platform with something like: “Study/Work made with the help of the GenOuest bioinformatics platform team (”.

We built this site to let users follow the development of the platform and to publish general news and thoughts about motifs and bioinformatics in general.

This website is also a community one: we would like to get interactions with the community to build a platform useful for as many people as possible. Don’t hesitate to give your opinion on our work!
